Most of you who answered were pretty displeased that Chris Sligh went home last week. I’m not sure if that’s because you really liked Chris or really felt like it was time for Sanjaya to go home (based on the comments that are being[...]

Add to myYahoo!Another week, another show, (another Sanjaya disaster). Really. END THE MADNESS! The mentor is Tony Bennett, and I have no legit spoilers, so I have no idea what is being sung. Standards? Swing? Just stuff sung by Tony? We shall see. Ryan is rushing through the intros, [...]

Add to myYahoo! The Idolblog.com polls were right on the money again last week seeing Chris Sligh being told to pack his bags and board the bus home.
Tonight,
Tony Bennett is coaching our contestants through the songs that have been a part of his expansive career that has spanned many decades. It should be an interesting night tonight as often a number of contestants really excel in the standards themes. Who will it be in 2007?
Let's find out and get right into it. First up to night is:
Song Choice:
Mack the Knife
Voting Numbers: 1 866 436 5701
Is this guy versatile or what? Seriously! Blake continues to amaze me as while he has a definite style about him, he's still able to turn it up in themes and genres that you wouldn't expect him to. Good job!
Song Choice:
Day and Night
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5702
This might be one of Phil's better performances. Isn't it strange how when it comes to genres that an artist is never likely to actually perform, they end up shining?
Song Choice:
I Got Rhythm
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5703
Melinda sounds so comfortable, once again, singing this style of music. I absolutely love Melinda's phrasing and "I Got Rhythm" has to be the perfect song to describe her. Great.
Song Choice:
Mr Saturday Dance
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5704
That didn't really do it for me tonight. I think Chris has a great voice but he's getting a little dull and boring when I think everyone expected him to be a bit of a Justin Timberlake.
Song Choice:
On A Clear Day
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5705
This might be Jordin's worst week. Some serious tuning issues in this performance. No sir. I didn't like it. Not one bit.
Song Choice:
Smile
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5706
After a fantastic week last week, Gina's performance this week is kinda bland. Definitely not her genre although it is nice to see a different side of her.
Song Choice:
Cheek to Cheek
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5707
This just so happens to possibly be one of Sanjaya's better performances. Simply because it's a simple melody and doesn't take too much effort. Other than that, he's way off on his timing. Time to go home? Not yet I think.
Song Choice:
Aint Misbehaving
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5708
Nope. Sorry. Another bland performance. Probably a dozen better song choices for Haley this week. That was just plain ordinary.
Song Choice:
Ain't No Sunshine
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5709
I wouldn't be at all surprised it Lakisha finds herself being sent home soon. She is simply boring me to death now. Sure, she can sing, but if I've said it before, I say it a million times. Lakisha performs the exact same style of song every week. Long are the days when she owned the competition during the top 24 rounds. Her light has dimmed for me unfortunately.
Well, it was an ok show. Really enjoyed Blake and Melinda but the rest were a bit so so.
Who was your favourite? What did you think of tonight's show? Make sure you vote in our poll.
