Kellie Pickler comes clean

Life hasn’t always been rosy for perky “American Idol” reject Kellie Pickler.

In an upcoming interview with People, the songstress admits to a prolonged bout last year with depression, sparked by a nasty breakup and her father’s return trip to prison.

“Everything in my professional life seemed great,” she told the mag. “But in my personal life, I was just crumbling.”

Kellie turned to anti-depressants, but quickly abandoned them after they made her “crazy.”

Ultimately, friends — including “Idol” alums Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood — and new beau Kyle Jacobs helped Kellie escape her year-long funk.

“He makes me feel so good about being me,” she said.

You can read the whole interview Friday, when the latest issue of People hits newsstands.

Idol chatter …

Taylor Hicks, on his own after being dumped by his record label earlier this year, is still making music.

In fact, he’s planning to release his latest album Feb. 10.

Kellie Pickler Admits to Struggle with Depression

It's been a difficult year for Kellie Pickler.

The former American Idol finalist says she's struggled with depression and suffered severe reactions to anti-depressant pills after dealing with family problems and a breakup from her boyfriend, hockey player Jordin Tootoo.

"Everything in my professional life seemed great," Pickler told People Magazine. "But in my personal life, I was just crumbling."

Now?

Picker's friendships with Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, along with a new love – Nashville songwriter Kyle Jacobs – and writing songs for her new album have helped her find happiness once more.

"He makes me feel so good about being me," she said of Jacobs.

We couldn't be happier to hear that.
