JUSTICE! SWEET JUSTICE! [04/18/07]

Sanjaya is looking a little confused. I can only hope he is looking dumbfounded while singing his swan song in about 55 minutes. We spend the first several minutes clearing the air with Simon and a misunderstanding with Chris’s comments about VT etc etc. Which is good, but I didn’t need the video [...]

American Idol 2007 Episode 31 - Top 7 Results
Show Review

Tonight we bid farewell to one more and apparently we're going to see the top seven split into two groups before we find out who is going home.

Martina McBrideMartina McBride Jamster Martina McBride - Waking Up Laughing - Anyway will be performing her new single Martina McBride - Waking Up Laughing - AnywayAnyway from the album Martina McBride - Waking Up LaughingWaking Up Laughing tonight.

First up though, lets take a quick recap of who sang what:

Phil Stacey sang Keith Urban - Keith Urban - Where the Blacktop EndsWhere the Blacktop Ends Jamster
Jordin Sparks sang Martina McBride - Martina McBride: Greatest Hits - A Broken WingA Broken Wing Jamster
Sanjaya Malakar sang Bonnie Raitt - The Best of Bonnie Raitt - Something to Talk AboutSomething to Talk About Jamster
Lakisha Jones sang Carrie Underwood - Jesus, Take the Wheel - Single - Jesus, Take the WheelJesus Take the Wheel Jamster
Chris Richardson sang Rascal Flatts - Melt - MayberryMayberry Jamster
Melinda Doolittle sang Julie Reeves - It's About Time - Trouble Is a WomanTrouble is a Woman Jamster
Blake Lewis sang Tim McGraw - Tim McGraw: Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 - When the Stars Go BlueWhen the Stars Go Blue Jamster

Taking a look at this weeks polls, what do the numbers indicate about tonight's elimination show.

It should come as no surprize to anyone that Sanjaya is still at the top of the "Who does everyone want to go home" poll but this week he's rocketed up to 73% - almost doubling last week's numbers. Chris Richardson is in second place on 9% while Phil Stacey and Lakisha Jones share third on 7%.

In the "Who is everyone's favourite Idol" poll this week, first place has changed again as Jordin Sparks takes the top spot on 38%. Melinda Doolittle has second place sewn up on 24% while Blake Lewis takes third on 15%.

Now, who are the bottom three as predicted by the polls?

Taking third lowest spot is Sanjaya Malakar on 5% of the vote. The bottom place this week is dead even with both Lakisha Jones and Chris Richardson taking an even 4% of the vote. My pick is that it will be Lakisha going home but who knows.

When it comes to the DialIdol results, third lowest place belongs to Lakisha Jones (9.04%). Second lowest belongs to Blake Lewis (8.49%) while Sanjaya Malakar (8.2%) languishes at the bottom. Interestingly, Phil Stacey takes the top and confident not to be eliminated spot while Melinda Doolittle comes in fourth.

So who is going home tonight? Stick around and find out but it's looking like it's going to be a close one if the Idolblog.com polls are right. Chris or Lakisha? The results are just around the corner.

What was tonight's medley? Kenny Loggins - Outside - From the Redwoods - I'm AlrightI'm Alright

Going home:
Sanjaya Malakar
Daughtry - Daughtry (Bonus Track) - HomeHome by Chris Daughtry

Bottom Three:

Safe:

American Idol 2007 Episode 30 - Top 7 Performance
Review

The country theme comes around this week which is going to make life interesting for a couple of our soul singers.

This week it was Martina McBrideMartina McBride coaching our contestants. She's a huge country performer with a plethora of hits under her belt so I'm sure that all of these American Idols are in good hands.

Sorry about the delay again this week. I've been bedside in hospital with my wife. Thankfully she is home now! :)

Right, on with the show. First up:

Contestant: Phil Stacey

Song Choice: Keith Urban - Keith Urban - Where the Blacktop EndsWhere the Blacktop Ends
Ringtone: Jamster
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5701

This may have been Phil's best performance. I think he really was in his element with this song choice this week.

Contestant: Jordin Sparks

Song Choice: Martina McBride - Martina McBride: Greatest Hits - A Broken WingA Broken Wing
Ringtone: Jamster
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5702

I think I'm with Simon on this this week. This may very well have been the first performance for me that shows she has the chops to win the title in 2007.

Contestant: Sanjaya Malakar

Song Choice: Bonnie Raitt - The Best of Bonnie Raitt - Something to Talk AboutSomething to Talk About
Ringtone: Jamster
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5703

Man, I am so over Sanjaya. It really is time for him to go. That was just appalling.

Contestant: Lakisha Jones

Song Choice: Carrie Underwood - Jesus, Take the Wheel - Single - Jesus, Take the WheelJesus Take the Wheel
Ringtone: Jamster
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5704

Ow, ow, ow! That was ghastly! Surely her time is up. I can't believe how far she has gone backward since the top 24.

Contestant: Chris Richardson

Song Choice: Rascal Flatts - Melt - MayberryMayberry
Ringtone: Jamster
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5705

Gee... wasn't this out of Chris' comfort zone. Totally not his thing.

Contestant: Melinda Doolittle

Song Choice: Julie Reeves - It's About Time - Trouble Is a WomanTrouble is a Woman
Ringtone: Jamster
Voting Number: 1 866 436 5706

Once again, another good performance from our resident 'professional' contestant.

Contestant: Blake Lewis

Song Choice: Tim McGraw - Tim McGraw: Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 - When the Stars Go BlueWhen the Stars Go Blue
Ringtone: Jamster
Voting Numbers: 1 866 436 5707

Ok Blake, we know you can sing now. How about going back to those funky performances we all used to tune in to watch cause they were so great and different compared to everyone else on this show?

Another interesting week in Idol. Who will be going home? Will our poll be right?

Who was your favourite? What did you think of tonight's show? Make sure you vote in our poll.

The Sanjaya Controversy

Even for those people who don't watch American Idol, it's nearly impossible not to know who Sanjaya is - he's all over the news. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if President Bush - in lieu of devising a timetable to pull US troops out of Iraq - just devises a timetable to pull Sanjaya off of American Idol. We, as a culture, seem to be a little Sanjaya obsessed.
