American Idol 2007 Episode 31 - Top 7 Results

Tonight we bid farewell to one more and apparently we're going to see the top seven split into two groups before we find out who is going home.

Martina McBride will be performing her new single Anyway from the album Waking Up Laughing tonight.

First up though, lets take a quick recap of who sang what:

Phil Stacey sang Where the Blacktop Ends
Jordin Sparks sang A Broken Wing
Sanjaya Malakar sang Something to Talk About
Lakisha Jones sang Jesus Take the Wheel
Chris Richardson sang Mayberry
Melinda Doolittle sang Trouble is a Woman
Blake Lewis sang When the Stars Go Blue

Taking a look at this weeks polls, what do the numbers indicate about tonight's elimination show.

It should come as no surprize to anyone that Sanjaya is still at the top of the "Who does everyone want to go home" poll but this week he's rocketed up to 73% - almost doubling last week's numbers. Chris Richardson is in second place on 9% while Phil Stacey and Lakisha Jones share third on 7%.

In the "Who is everyone's favourite Idol" poll this week, first place has changed again as Jordin Sparks takes the top spot on 38%. Melinda Doolittle has second place sewn up on 24% while Blake Lewis takes third on 15%.

Now, who are the bottom three as predicted by the polls?

Taking third lowest spot is Sanjaya Malakar on 5% of the vote. The bottom place this week is dead even with both Lakisha Jones and Chris Richardson taking an even 4% of the vote. My pick is that it will be Lakisha going home but who knows.

When it comes to the DialIdol results, third lowest place belongs to Lakisha Jones (9.04%). Second lowest belongs to Blake Lewis (8.49%) while Sanjaya Malakar (8.2%) languishes at the bottom. Interestingly, Phil Stacey takes the top and confident not to be eliminated spot while Melinda Doolittle comes in fourth.

So who is going home tonight? Stick around and find out but it's looking like it's going to be a close one if the Idolblog.com polls are right. Chris or Lakisha? The results are just around the corner.

American Idol 2007 Episode 30 - Top 7 Performance

The country theme comes around this week which is going to make life interesting for a couple of our soul singers.

This week it was Martina McBride coaching our contestants. She's a huge country performer with a plethora of hits under her belt so I'm sure that all of these American Idols are in good hands.

Sorry about the delay again this week. I've been bedside in hospital with my wife. Thankfully she is home now! :)

Right, on with the show. First up:

This may have been Phil's best performance. I think he really was in his element with this song choice this week.

The Sanjaya Controversy

Even for those people who don't watch American Idol, it's nearly impossible not to know who Sanjaya is - he's all over the news. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if President Bush - in lieu of devising a timetable to pull US troops out of Iraq - just devises a timetable to pull Sanjaya off of American Idol. We, as a culture, seem to be a little Sanjaya obsessed.
